Teacher’s Day Essay

 

Introduction

Teachers day is celebrated on 5th September every year, which marks the birthday of Dr. Sarevepalli Radhakrishna. Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishna was born on 5th Sept’ 1888. He was the former President of India and a scholar, teacher, philosopher and a religious thinker. He was a professor in many famed universities such as Chennai, Mysore, Benaras and Oxford.

His students wanted to celebrate his birthday, but he asked them to celebrate this day as Teachers day instead and that would make him feel more honoured. Ever since this day is dedicated to all the Teachers across the country. Dr. Radhakrishna was an outstanding teacher and philosopher. He passed away on 17th April’ 1975.

Teacher’s Day Celebrations are held in each and every school, all over India. It is the day to honor our Teachers and show them how important they are in our lives. This also helps students understand the importance of education and the role played by teachers in learning process. This day is dedicated to all the teachers, mentors who play a vital role in shaping lives of students, and to show them the respect and gratitude for what they do.

Teachers day celebrations in schools are held by paying homage Dr. Radhakrishna and remembering him for his work and intelligence. Special cultural programs are held which include, dances, skits etc. by the students. Many students also give gifts or flowers to their teachers to show their love and respect towards them.

In some schools students dress up as teachers, and take the role of teachers by conducting classes. This is just for fun and let the teachers relax. They conduct many fun filled activities in the class and even teachers participate with great enthusiasm. This also helps students understand the hard work done by teachers to teach them daily.

Many schools give awards to teachers for their contributions and hard work. Teachers are encouraged to participate in games and other cultural activities which are being conducted on this special day. Groups are made between students and teachers or teachers vs teachers. 

It is a treat to see the teachers enjoying all the activities. Students and principal of the school give speech in honor of teachers. Some schools also arrange for picnics and other activities for teachers. At the end of the day all the teachers and principal thanks all the students and promise to continue to put their efforts for building the future of students and showing them the right path.

Conclusion

This is a day of relaxation and enjoyment for all the teachers. And to strengthen the student teacher bond, to make students realize the importance and hard work of teachers do to help us become a good citizen and a good human being.

Teachers are channels of knowledge and intelligence. It is one of the greatest and honourable profession, as it is the teachers who make all other professionals excel in their field. It is in the hands of teachers to create or destroy the future of society. Thus, teachers are the most important parts of our lives who help us walk in the right path and help us crave our life. It is our duty to obey and respect teachers. They are the torchbearers of our society and their contributions are immense. One should always be obliged to his teachers for shaping his life.
